#10 Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Now for many of you, this game needs no introduction. It is a sequel to the first installment of the Final Fantasy VII Remake (Link). An action focused RPG with a colorful cast and an engaging story; this sequel will grip you more than the original on the PS1. I tried playing the OG Playstation 1 version, and while it’s still an amazing game, there is a lot of quality of life features that make it feel a lot more outdated.

#9 Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth
This too is a sequel but to an entry released in 2020. Yakuza Like a Dragon (link) shouldn’t be missed either, as it is a direct prequel to Infinite Wealth. This game is silly and over the top, but that isn’t a reason to stay away from it. This heavily story driven RPG is largely influenced from RPG’s of the 90’s like the Dragon Quest series, although a lot more fast paced.

#8 Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes
Don’t let the 2D graphics fool you. Hundred Heroes is produced by the late Yoshitaka Murayama (may he rest in peace), the original creator of the cult classics Suikoden 1 & 2. It’s the last game that he’s written and you just might like his story telling. His games have a lot of charm that has developed a small but strong fan base (and I’m one of them)

#7 Banishers Ghost of New Eden
Quite an unknown game by many as it released with little noise; Banishers is an enjoyable game set in 1695 in a small community named New Eden. You control two ghost hunters in action RPG gameplay, and many of your choices affect the games storyline.

#6 Unicorn Overlord
Vanillaware has been pushing out amazing games since their inception. Try any of them from [Links] and you’re bound to find some enjoyment by it. Unicorn Overlord is not an exception, with beautiful 2D artwork and in tactical RPG based fashion. And if you have a love for retro RPG’s, you’ll be hit with a lot of nostalgia. If you don’t believe me, try the demo, it’s completely free in whatever system you decide to purchase it from.

#5 Persona 3 Reload
Speaking of nostalgia, Persona 3 is a remake of the original Persona 3 released on the Playstation 2. Atlus ALREADY remastered Persona 3 Portable, but they decided to further milk the cow with this remaster. And that isn’t a bad thing. This is a great game with lots of quality of life features from Persona 5 Royal. It’s fast-paced, with that funky and catchy music that Atlus and the Persona series has been (recently) known for.

#4 Granblue Fantasy Relink
Granblue Fantasy Relink. Man, everyone had been WAITING for this game for years since 2016; after delay upon delay, it’s finally here. How does it fare? The story is a BIT weak, if I’m being honest, but the gameplay is top notch, if a bit reminiscent of Tales of Arise[link], which again, isn’t a bad thing. A lot of people like to focus on gameplay and guess what? This game has online co-op multiplayer, that alone is worth a purchase if you can get another friend to play with you. Or you can gift it to them and tell them to play with you.

#3 Dragon’s Dogma 2
As usual, a lot of these companies play it safe with sequels and remasters, but I’d be lying if I told you I wasn’t super excited for the sequel to the popular Playstation 3 game. Not many people have heard of this action RPG series and has only recently been trending in the gaming community. Capcom made sure to bring a lot more polish to the sequel and guess what? That’s all the original needed because it was good already; that alone has almost made Dragon’s Dogma 2 a masterpiece in it’s own right.

#2 Rise of the Ronin
Team Ninja has been around since the 90’s making games like the Ninja Gaiden series, the Dead or Alive series, Nioh, and more recently: Wo Long Fallen Dynasty (link). With this RPG similar to the Dark Soul’s franchise (or more specifically Sekiro), the samurai gameplay is super addicting and a bit gory. Give it a go and let me know how you feel about it in the comments down below.

#1 Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree
Oh boy. EVERYONE has been waiting for this DLC. And while it may not count as it’s own game, FromSoftware has been pushing out some amazing games the past few years and this one is content filled and larger than other stand alone games. If you enjoyed Elden Ring at it’s peak, this is another one that’ll grip you by the gameplay. If you’re into CHALLENGING but rewarding gameplay, go out and get it. If you’re not into self punishment,… maybe stay away.
